The firm is a leader in railway law and excels, in particular, with regard to the matters of access to the market of railway services and the access and use of railway infrastructure, subjects that are of great significance following the completion of regulatory measures necessary for the transposition of the fourth railway package.
Nowadays, the railway sector is characterised by the freedom of access to the market of goods and passenger transport via rail by railway companies, with fair, non-discriminatory and transparent conditions, so as to guarantee the development of competition in the railway sector, in accordance with the provisions in the European Union directives and in articles 56 and following of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU).
In the above-mentioned areas of railway law, the firm provides companies with advice and assistance in the procedures for obtaining the licence for provision of railway transport services for both goods and passengers, in matters regarding the licence (advice and assistance in cases of suspension or withdrawal of licence), in the procedures for assigning capacities of the railway infrastructure and in the procedures for obtaining the entrustment of the regional and local public railway transport service.
Furthermore, the firm has extensive knowledge of the funding tools of the European Union, also regarding the railway transport sector [European Fund for Strategic Investments (FEIS); Connecting Europe Facility for Transport (CEF Transport); Horizon 2020: Shift2Rail; etc.) and high level of competence and experience in developing projects covered by the above-mentioned funding tools as well as the procedures of access to EU funding by railway companies.
The mandates entrusted to the firm include, in particular, advice and assistance in the procedures for the entrustment of railway manoeuvre service in ports, advice and assistance for the realisation of railway terminals as well as advice and assistance in the procedures for the award of contracts of public transport service for railway.
